The whole Diego Costa transfer to Chelsea has gathered momentum in recent days after comments made by Costa. Now, after comments made by Jose Mourinho, it's just a matter of time before the deal is announced.
For months now we have read and seen numerous articles and blog posts on Costa and the link to the club. As with any rumour, until you have a soundbite from someone with influence at the club, the manager or the player, it's just speculation. Once you have those quotes you can pretty much confirm the deal WILL go through.
To start with yesterday, Diego Costa spoke of Chelsea and his transfer to London giving the whole rumour real substance. Now here, we have comments made by Jose Mourinho of Diego Costa as being reported in Spanish Newspaper Marca.
Jose said:
"Costa is a player who I want to have in my team. I've asked my club for him and I have total confidence that we're going to achieve it and he will end up signing for Chelsea."
As stated earlier, it seems like it's just a matter of time before the deal is done and a formal announcement is made here and in Madrid.
For me, the jury is out on Costa and I have my doubts about his temperament. It's one thing imposing yourself in La Liga week in, week out, to then come to England and try to do the same.
Let's hope to see more of the good things he is capable of in the coming weeks in Brazil.
Right now, despite the manager's admiration, he needs to do more in my eyes.
