I wonder how many Chelsea fan's opinions changed as to where Thibaut Courtois should play his football next season after watching his performance for Atletico in both legs of our Champions League Semi Final this past week!
I for one am one of those Chelsea fans who's opinion has certainly changed. Before we had met Atletico, I was more than happy to let the young Belgian stay in Madrid for another season because we had already heard reports that the Spanish side had started negotiations with Chelsea to extend his loan.
Let's also not forget that our current number one Petr Cech has just been named in the Premier League Team of Year as voted for by his fellow professionals and, let's also not forget that this season, Cech has broken the record for the most clean sheets!
We had often heard quotes, reports and speculation about what would happen next season as after playing the last two or three seasons in La Liga for Atletico, Courtois has no intention of coming back to Chelsea to face up to being on the bench if he loses out in a straight fight between the two.
Looking at his performance especially in the game last night you have to agree that he looks like a more than accomplished Goalkeeper. He came out and grabbed the ball in the air and looked more than comfortable. His positioning was good and his reflexes the same.
Courtois had said himself that he felt he would need to come to England and have a spell on loan for a season somewhere else before he settled into life at Chelsea and in the first team. It's obvious to me that he is more than ready right now!
So what do you people think? Do you think that the club should bring the Belgian to Stamford Bridge as early as next season and if that's he case, what happens to Petr Cech?
I would like to hear from as many Chelsea fans as possible on this!
