According to various sources, Chelsea have sealed the transfer of Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid after personal terms had been agreed once Chelsea confirmed they will meet his £32m release clause in his contract.
It's being reported that Costa will sign a five-year contract with Chelsea and will earn around £200,000 per week. Jose Mourinho has finally got his man, although no official confirmation will be announced until after the season has finished, possibly before the World Cup Finals in Brazil.
I am wondering what you people think of the news and your opinions of Costa? Having seen him against Chelsea in our two recent games he didn't seem nothing special in my eyes but you cannot judge the player based on that, you need to look at his performances throughout the season as a whole.
Some people are of the opinion that Costa is an all-round centre forward and "a handful" up front. Now that maybe the case but from what I have seen, he spends more time arguing and taking issue with opposing defenders than causing them problems. It's this description that gives me a problem because if we are looking for someone of that style up front then we already have Romelu Lukaku.
To me Costa doesn't look lightening quick either despite being the predator or the beast that people have labelled him. I guess it all comes down to the fact that he can score goals and finds himself more often than not in the right place at the right time.
I am just wondering if he would cut it in the Premier League? £32m is a lot of money and the reported £200,000 per week the same.
Do you think that this deal is worth it or if there are better options out there?
