So we have reached the final game of our season and a trip to Wales to take on the already relegated Cardiff with slim hopes of pinching second place from Liverpool. I am looking for a good performance and result to finish on a high this afternoon.
As with any final game, there are reports of teams fielding weaker sides and giving some youngsters a game to give them some much needed experience. According to reports this morning, Cardiff could even blood a few youngsters up against us but being honest, with the fact they are going down, I can only see them looking to give their supporters something to shout about and expect them to be at full strength.
As for Chelsea, I would go as strong as possible looking to give the supporters a lift after virtually throwing the Premier League title away with poor results in recent weeks.
We know that Petr Cech, Oscar, John Terry, Samuel Eto'o and Frank Lampard are all out in addition to Ramires who remains suspended so in some positions the manager may have little choice but to play the strongest side he has available rather than look to the youngsters. One player who could get another chance is Tomas Kalas after his impressive full debut against Liverpool.
No matter if we feel like we should have been celebrating the title, there is still a game to be won so we must make sure every single player that starts the game is up and at it from the kick off.
Cardiff will play one of two ways. They will either have a real go at Chelsea or wait, park the bus (as we have at times I know) and play counter attacking football.
One thing to consider in our favour could be any potential protests against the Cardiff owner Tan this afternoon. With reports the supporters want their colours changed back to Blue, it could be an uneasy atmosphere in the stands and that could filter down to the Cardiff players. If that is the case, we need to show no mercy and really go after the three points.
We all know that Chelsea have the players, the ability and the quality to get out on that pitch and produce a fantastic display and win the three points with ease. On paper tells you the same. However, as we have seen over recent weeks, it's one thing thinking we can do it, its another to actually get out there and deliver exactly that!
I expect Chelsea to win comfortably but we need some big performances again from the likes of Eden Hazard, Andre Schurrle, Fernando Torres and the like. For some of our players today, it could be their final game in a Chelsea shirt and I am hoping they would like to put in a performance for the fans.
Anything can happen in the Premier League and this game could become another game that Chelsea struggle to break down an opponent and Cardiff take advantage. We need a committed and professional performance.
Let's hope we get the performance we all want, winning the game with ease and giving the manager a chance to give some younger players a go in the second half. Three points and then news from the Etihad that Manchester City have won their final game and stopped Liverpool winning the league!
That would be the perfect afternoon now! Come on Chelsea!
