After two impressive performances against Atletico last week and Liverpool on Sunday, The Telegraph is reporting that Chelsea are now keen on giving Ashley Cole another contract to keep him at Chelsea.
I am wondering what you thought of these reports?
Without question, Cole's place within the squad for next season and beyond looked in serious jeopardy. Cesar Azpilicueta has taken his place in the team and has turned into one of the players of our season.
So what of Cole? It seems that there has either been a fallout with player and manager OR the manager has seen Cole get roasted down our left hand side far too many times this season and decided that a change was needed.
It's interesting to note that in the last two games that Cole has started, Chelsea have defended deep and in numbers, playing a counter attacking game so Cole has been comfortable.
Now I'm not saying that he is passed it by any stretch of the imagination, I believe that Cole could offer us at least one more season but it all comes down to the manager and his thought process.
Would Cole be of use to Jose next season as cover? Would the player himself accept an additional years contract playing that role in the squad as he has for the most part this season?
What do you think?
