Written off, given no chance, throwing the slim title hopes away, handing the title to Liverpool and Chelsea are going to suffer a heavy defeat, it's all I am reading and hearing from people these past couple of days! Even with a different team, Chelsea have the depth and the quality to beat Liverpool on Sunday!
Ever since Jose Mourinho stated this week that he is prepared to name a weakened side to face Liverpool on Sunday, Chelsea have been written off and the three points have virtually been handed to Liverpool before a ball has even been kicked!
I am writing on record, here and now, that Chelsea can still beat Liverpool in their own backyard by naming a side that many would regard as not our strongest. Our squad is strong compared to others and we will still pose a threat to Liverpool and their title hopes.
Plenty of focus has been on the side Mourinho will select on Sunday. I have had my say on the team he will start against Liverpool here and the side I believe will start the game against Atletico on Wednesday night so make sure you click those two links and check those two posts out!
One thing we do know is that Petr Cech, Eden Hazard, John Terry and Samuel Eto'o are all out injured and WILL miss Anfield.
I would like to point out and remind you all to never under estimate the influence of Jose Mourinho as he knows exactly what he is doing. As he said this afternoon in his press conference, no matter what side is selected, we head there with the intention of winning.
Everyone is talking up Liverpool and their fantastic run of form that has taken them top of the Premier League. I say Kudos to them and showing form like that, it's well deserved BUT, if anyone knows the one team that can go to Anfield and beat Liverpool it's Chelsea and a team managed by Jose Mourinho. I know it, you know it, Liverpool fans know and the rest of the football world knows it!
Chelsea are in a win, win situation here if you think about it. If we lose, it's because of the side we selected. If we win, then you can imagine the kind of headlines that will come out on Monday morning. What would that do for Liverpool if Chelsea beat them? Would their season fall apart based on the fact that we still have the Champions League? We will have to wait and see.
All I am saying here and the whole point of this blog post is that it's very dangerous to write off the Chelsea side that takes to the pitch at 2pm on Sunday. The likes of Demba Ba, Frank Lampard, Mikel, Mohamed Salah, Nemanja Matic and Andre Schurrle are all tipped to start and they aren't bad are they!
This title race is far from over and mark my words, Chelsea WILL head to Anfield on Sunday with the intention of winning!
I have said it before and I will say it again. DO NOT under estimate the influence of Jose Mourinho!
