COURTOIS OPINION: Stay in Madrid or come to Chelsea?

Thibaut Courtois has stated that he expects a decision to be made on where he will play his football next week and revealed that Atletico Madrid are in negotiations with Chelsea. Should he be allowed to stay there or is it time to bring him to Chelsea?

We have to put sentiment to one side and think of the good of the football club. Last night was a big eye opener for me with the way we conceded all three goals and as I stated here, I believe Cech should be asked questions for his involvement in each of them.

90% of the time these days Petr Cech is reliable and performs well. He has set a record at this club for clean sheets and for the most part is solid. The goals last night demonstrate that maybe it's time to think about Courtois.

Whether or not Courtois will want to come here to face a direct fight with Cech for the number one position is another thing however, knowing that he has firmly established himself as the number one in Madrid.

He states that negotiations are already taking place between the two clubs about his future and it will be interesting to see if that is for a permanent transfer involving Diego Costa or another loan deal.

We know that Chelsea want Courtois tied down to a long term contract so it looks more than likely that a loan deal will be agreed for another season, his fourth in La Liga.
