I have been thinking about Jose's idea of a weaker team to face Liverpool on Sunday and have come up with the starting eleven that I believe we could see at Anfield. I am interested in reading your opinions.
Now we have to take plenty of things into consideration here. Suspensions for the second leg, people that are likely to miss out and players who need a game based on the fact that Jose Mourinho would already be thinking of his best eleven for Wednesday night.
As we know Mohamed Salah and Nemanja Matic will both start against Liverpool as they are cup tied for the Champions League. In addition to those two, we now have both Frank Lampard and Mikel suspended for the second leg so they will also start against Liverpool in a possible 4-3-3 formation alongside Matic in midfield.
Demba Ba will more than likely start against Liverpool as Fernando Torres will continue up top on Wednesday. So we have two of the three attacking players selected with Ba through the middle and Salah wide right. Andre Schurrle to come in and play down the left hand side as he started on the bench last night.
Mark Schwarzer should continue in goal with Hilario as his deputy but the back four is where things could really change. As Ivanovic missed the game last night, he could be brought into the side for Anfield at right back. Gary Cahill will continue to play and lead the back four but with David Luiz alongside him and Ashley Cole to continue at left back.
So the supposed "weaker" Chelsea eleven would be as follows:
(4-3-3) Schwarzer, Ivanovic, Cahill, Luiz, Cole, Lampard, Mikel, Matic, Salah, Ba and Schurrle.
The only other players I believe that could be under consideration for Anfield would be Hilario, Kalas, Ake and Van Ginkel.
What do you think of the team selected above? Not bad for a weaker side is it and I bet we could Liverpool a better game that people think we could. Considering what the opinion of the result would be before a ball is even kicked, I would seriously consider having a put on Chelsea online with betfair.
What do you people think?
Not bad for a team thats going to be show the door at Anfield, i would take a scrappy 2-1 win and 3 MORE POINTS....YNWA
ReplyDeleteI think he might be thinking about leaving out the likes of Scharwzer and Cahill because of what happened t Cech and Terry. Mikel, Lampard, Saleh and Matic will play, otherwise could be anyone.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see Ake, Kalas and van Ginkel all see the field.
