Frank Lampard has spoken about the title race and the fact that after a couple of seasons, it's great for Chelsea to be up there and fighting again. Despite a blip at Villa Park last weekend, Lampard has urged focus.
He said:
"It's very simple. Worry about yourselves, where you are. If we do that and win as many games as we can to the end of the season, we give ourselves a great chance.
It's all about taking it game by game, desire and focus every game. You can't look too far ahead. People ask me what is the recipe for success in the run-in, and it's just focusing and driving the team on every week.
That means the staff, the management, and every individual in the squad being on their game. We have got that. We have to show it.
"I am confident. It's great to be in this position. We have had two or three years where we have been off the pace in terms of League position for a club like Chelsea. So it's great to be back in the race, and to have that feeling around the club.
That desire to keep winning because you are fighting for the title rather than fighting for fourth place. That feels good."
It's players like Frank Lampard that will become invaluable to Jose Mourinho in the next few weeks. Lampard, Cech and Terry have all experienced winning the Premier League under Mourinho and have a wealth of experience to call upon, for the younger players such as Eden Hazard, Oscar and Willian to call upon.
The pressure is really on these next few weeks with some big, big games coming up. As Lampard says, we just need to pull together and take each game as it comes to make sure we do our own job no matter what any of the other clubs do.
If we don't win it then I would imagine that most of you will accept the fact that we have put together a massive challenge this season, ahead of Mourinho's planned assault on the title next year.
To just be involved after being so far off of the pace in the last two years has been great for everyone at the club and the supporters.
Let's just see where this season takes us in the end!
