As the final whistle blew at Old Trafford and in Dortmund last night, we finally knew who the last eight sides would be in the Champions League draw tomorrow. As a Chelsea fan, who would you like to face in the next round?
Chelsea will line up alongside Manchester United as the English representatives in the draw. Three from Spain - Atletico Madrd, Barcelona and Real Madrid, Two from Germany - Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund and one from France - Paris Saint Germain.
Now looking at the sides left in the draw I am thinking I would love it if we got either Atletico or United over two legs, that's the favourable draw but as we know from the past, it's never that simple.
You look at Bayern, Barcelona and Real Madrid and there is obvious history there. Bayern for the final in Munich and the Super Cup this year with Pep Guardiola adding a certain element of spice to the possible fixture.
Barcelona because of the obvious history we have against them and the Mourinho factor and the Mourinho factor with Real Madrid having left there to come home to Chelsea. I am preparing myself to be drawn at home first to one of those three teams purely because of fate.
People talk about who they want to face but we are now at the Quarter Final stage and if you have ambitions to win the competition you have to face the best teams at some stage so now shouldn't be a problem.
Chelsea have the best defensive record in the competition this season and I would fancy us over two legs against anyone. Just imagine putting in a performance as we did away at Man City in the Premier League and doing that in Munich, the Nou Camp or Madrid.
Gaizka Mendieta says Chelsea are the 'dark horses' of this year's Champions League speaking to SkySports and explained why. He said:
"I think Chelsea could be the dark horse of the competition.
Everyone is talking about Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich but there has to be a team that no one expects to get to the semi-finals or final. This has happened in every Champions League season - and why not Chelsea?
They've got Mourinho, with the experience he has in this competition, and this Chelsea team is very competitive and solid.
No one wants to draw Real Madrid or Barcelona but I don't think whoever gets Chelsea would be happy."
I agree with Mendieta. Chelsea are strong and have a good solid defensive unit which the others do not have. Can you honestly say that Bayern at the back are as solid as us? Could you say that about Barcelona or Real Madrid?
Just as the Premier League, Chelsea will approach things game by game to see where it takes us. Let's hope the draw is favourable tomorrow.
BUT which Chelsea will turn up to the next round games?? If it the same one that has lost to Villa and others this season we will not pose a problem to the other teams whoever we draw.
