We all sat at half time a goal up in Turkey feeling comfortable with the way the game was playing out and had confidence we would pick up an away win. To their credit, the Turkish side changed their formation and attacked Chelsea to equalise in the second half.
Get your money on Chelsea to win this tonight as I believe we can open up our opponents tonight time and time again to win this one comfortably. Learn more about gambling on your favorite sport.
The game is remembered as being a game of two halves, Chelsea's the first half and Galatasaray the second. Hopefully tonight at the Bridge, we can exploit their defensive weakness over and over again to ensure we get the job done properly.
I am expecting Roberto Mancini to line up in either a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 formation with Drogba leading the line. Either way, expect Burak and Sneijder to play out wide supported by Felipe Melo.
Chelsea have to maintain our defensive shape without the ball, we have to negate any space in front of our back four and that's why I would start with Mikel there in the absence of Matic. Whether or not David Luiz is deemed fit enough to start is for us to discover later but I can see Mourinho starting Ramires for his energy next to Mikel.
We are well aware of the threat the visitors pose and once again JT and Gary Cahill will have to cope with the big man up top.
As for Chelsea going forward we all saw the potential we had to attack their defensive line. The two centre backs have very little pace so someone like Samuel Eto'o could benefit from his movement if selected.
Think of the goal we scored in Istanbul. We managed to expose the huge space left behind Eboue down our left hand side and capitalised with a goal after an excellent run and cross from Cesar Azpilicueta.
Eboue is the man we need to target tonight, We must attack him at every single opportunity because he is so naive as a defender. He gets caught out of position looking to attack virtually every single time they have the ball and if we can counter attack down that side, we could cause them plenty of problems, over and over again.
I believe we have the quality to win this comfortably this evening. Things aren't exactly rosy between Mancini and Drogba after he was substituted this past weekend (Drogba complained on the pitch and then booted a water container from the bench) so it's the right time to play them.
Ideally, I would like to see us win this comfortably and for Drogba to score a consolation at the Bridge just one more time. That would be the perfect end to a perfect night.
Let's just hope we get the game won first though.
My team prediction for this evening is as follows:
Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry(c), Azpilicueta, Mikel, Ramires, Oscar, Willian, Hazard and Eto'o.
Come on Chelsea, put Villa behind us and make a real statement tonight!
