Chelsea take on Arsenal at Stamford Bridge tomorrow lunchtime in a game that has become vitally important in this seasons title race. Who do you think should start for Chelsea?
The disaster at Villa Park still haunts us for many reasons. Firstly the result and performance wasn't good enough. Secondly, the sending off of Ramires and Willian have prevented both from participating in this one and finally, the FA have charged Jose Mourinho. Throw in the fact that Ashley Cole is still injured and we are having to deal with injuries and suspension problems for the first time this season.
So who do you think should start this game? Remember that we have the bonus of Nemanja Matic and Mohamed Salah back in contention after missing out on the Champions League this past week for being cup tied.
Now I haven't watched any of the Arsenal performance at White Hart Lane last Sunday but by all accounts, the got their goal and shut up shop, parked the bus to see out the result. If that was the case then fair play. Will Arsene Wenger come to Stamford Bridge and do the same in his 1000th game in charge? Who cares, I'm not bothered about what Arsenal intend to do as they have to worry about coping with Chelsea!
For me there are always two positions in our team that are up for grabs and the positions that seem to be rotated the most, they are our holding two in midfield and the striker.
Frank Lampard had a good game on Tuesday at Galatasaray and it will be interesting to see if Jose decides to go with the straight swap replacing the suspended Ramires with Nemanja Matic. There is also Mikel and David Luiz to consider for those roles and if anything, I would personally favour the Luiz/Matic combination for this one.
The attacking three seems to have a simple solution with Andre Schurrle replacing Willian in the only change from Tuesday. Mohamed Salah is interesting here because we have seen he has hardly featured so far. His blistering pace could be something we decide to use from the bench.
Plenty has been spoken of Eden Hazard and he had another good game on Tuesday. One player I would like to mention though is Oscar. After a poor couple of months he was back to his productive and involved best and it was good to see. It's important he plays tomorrow to keep his form going.
Up top I would stick with Samuel Eto'o at the moment. Playing well, linking up well with our midfield and scoring goals, he is doing everything asked of him. He is just in front of Fernando Torres in my eyes.
So just to re-confirm, here is my starting eleven for the crunch game with Arsenal tomorrow lunchtime:
Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry(c), Azpilicueta, Luiz, Matic, Schurrle, Oscar, Hazard and Eto'o.
What do you people think. Who would you start?
