We came into the weekend and to the Villa came game looking for our rivals to drop points and to take more of an advantage from them but Chelsea turned out to be the biggest losers instead!
Manchester City won, Liverpool won and Arsenal won to close the gap on Chelsea and to revert pressure on us ahead of this weekends games coming up. Not only that, but after a poor result at Villa Park, we have both Willian and Ramires suspended on Saturday lunchtime.
Maybe I have got myself carried away, maybe Jose Mourinho has been right all along by disagreeing that Chelsea are genuine title contenders and the Premier League being "fake" and maybe, just maybe our realistic goal now should be to look at finishing inside the top three.
However, I still disagree with all that, I still feel positive and I still believe we can win the Premier League and I want to explain why by taking a look at the fixtures the top four has below:
You can see that in the coming weeks, all of our rivals will pick up a game in hand on us with Liverpool and Arsenal getting back on level pegging with the amount of games we would have played. City still have another couple in hand to fit in but just look at the games our rival's have between now and the 13th of April and you will see it's not over just yet.
Liverpool have to face Spurs and Manchester City, Arsenal face Chelsea, Manchester City and Everton and toughest of all, Manchester City have to face, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool.
In the same period of time, we only face Arsenal with three other winnable games (on paper). Chelsea are still right in this title race and these next four/five games could go a long, long way to deciding who is really up there fighting for the title!
Without question this past weekend was a massive blow. Trying to remain positive, if there was a time to lose a player like Ramires for his energy if we had to, then now would be the ideal time.
The players would be hurt, frustrated, angry and annoyed and hopefully can turn all that feeling into a positive and motivation for the next two massive games this week.
We are at the business end of the season, it's a time for everyone to come together as a collective, to regroup and to refocus. We have it in us to do it, we just need to produce performances game by game now.
