-------------The Goals-------------
In England we love to focus and concentrate on the negatives of a situation rather than praise any positives. We are a nation that loves an underdog, someone who delivers against expectation rather than praise someone for their demonstration of superiority. That's exactly what happened yesterday after events unfolded at Stamford Bridge and it's winding me up something chronic!
Headlines had already been written with just seventeen minutes of the game gone after Andre Marriner first awarded a penalty he or his assistant looked to have missed, and then for sending off the wrong player and not the guilty party who committed the original offence.
From that moment on, unless Arsene and Mourinho came to physical blows on the touchline, nothing would force a change to the headlines that were to appear by tea time.
So what if it was Wenger's 1000th game, who cares, this was still a Premier League to be won and three points to fight for. There was only one team who wanted this more, who were sent out from the dressing room with a fire and a hunger to get these all important three points, Chelsea.
All we have seen written is the demise of Arsenal's title hopes, the analysis and verdicts from various sources on their capitulation for a third time this season against a title rival away from the Emirates and hardly anything about Jose Mourinho's team and it baffles me.
I understand that with a huge defeat like that there would always be coverage, especially for someone who had talked of hopes of winning their first trophy in eight seasons. However, I never imagined the media bias that has appeared, Arsenal this, Arsenal that, Arsene Wenger this and that and hardly anything about Chelsea's biggest win under Mourinho EVER!
Where are the plaudits we deserve? Where is the praise? But for two minutes from Alan Shearer on MOTD last night, I have hardly seen anything and if I have, it's been of little substance compared to that of Arsenal.
Chelsea were fantastic, Chelsea were animals sent out on that pitch to hunt down our opponent and destroy and we did exactly that. With just ten minutes gone, the animals had found their pray, attacked and the game was over.
Chelsea pressed Arsenal high, forced them into errors and took full advantage. We were watching the football the boss has been pushing for ever since he came back to the Bridge in the summer. Every single player knew their own role to play if we were to win the game and every player performed superbly from one to eleven, even the substitutes. It was a complete performance.
Jose Mourinho had once again out-thought Arsene Wenger and remains unbeaten against him. Wenger has tried on numerous occasions to outwit Mourinho with his tactics or his approach to the games and so far, every single time, Mourinho has responded.
Chelsea were set up to expose the Arsenal weakness and executed their game plan to perfection. As it was happening, I couldn't understand why Flamini was sitting on the bench. Arsenal's one only naturally defensive minded footballer was watching as time and time again, Chelsea won possession and attacked the Arsenal back four left exposed with little cover in front of them. How on earth Wenger is of the opinion that Mikel Arteta is a holding midfielder baffles me and the Arsenal faithful I am sure.
Nemanja Matic coming into the squad to replace the whole left by Juan Mata has proven to be a masterstroke. The decision to play David Luiz alongside him and leave our settled back four in tact has equally been the same but if anything, the tactical move by Mourinho to play Cesar Azpilicueta at left back has seen the Spaniard flourish and deliver performances at a level of eight out of ten or above on a regular basis has been the best of all. Azpilicueta now, has to be right up there with the best in the league this season without question.
Chelsea have now kept SEVEN clean sheets in a row at Stamford Bridge with Petr Cech up to number 216 in total. Both he and the back four have proven to be the bedrock of our challenge this term and give the rest of the team the confidence and belief that teams will have to work twice as hard to score against us.
Our attacking three and main striker, no matter who was playing, ripped Arsenal to shreds time and time again. Eto'o was unlucky with his injury after scoring another massive goal in a massive game. Torres came on and demonstrated a willingness to fight, to work hard and he too played his part.
Hazard, different class as always, Oscar back amongst the goals and Andre Schurrle popping up with yet another goal, his seventh from ten starts in the league. Even Mohamed Salah came on and scored with a fantastic through ball to meet his run, composure and a great, clinical finish. It was party time at the Bridge.
Chelsea were awesome and Arsenal were useless and that's all there is to it. If you are an Arsenal fan you can decide whether it's because of the manager, the way the team was set up or if it's down to the players. Check the Internet, you will find more than enough sources!
I would rather, as I have done, focus on the fantastic performance from MY team and every decision on and off the pitch taken to contribute to such a wonderful afternoon.
From the manager to every single player, it was perfect. A demonstration that we ARE title contenders and after the disappointment of last week, we came back fighting.
Chelsea quite simply were a class apart. Why can't I see plenty of pundits and reporters singing OUR praises!
