Twelve days ago, Chelsea travelled to City with a focus, determination, organisation and played City off the pitch as to a man, they were all outstanding. Last night in the FA Cup I'm afraid I couldn't say the same.
To a man, City were better in this game and if anything Chelsea looked leggy. City time and time again found time and space to hurt us in front of our back four. David Silva pulled the strings and dictated the game as we looked to have no answer.
That's the disappointing thing for me about all this. We never looked like scoring at all and all those players who had performed in the Premier League two weeks before, were a shadow of that performance.
Let's not make any excuses here. City had a score to settle and even though they had made six changes to the side that had previously started against us, they all played their part in a game easily won.
I would have liked to have seen Jose make plenty of changes to our starting eleven, to give players who have not had a crack at a regular start a game. The likes of Mark Schwarzer, Ashley Cole, Andre Schurrle, Oscar, Mohamed Salah and Demba Ba were players I had in mind (with Oscar being left on the bench in the previous game against City) but Jose made only one change to the side that had beaten City with David Luiz dropping into defence replacing the injured John Terry and Mikel coming into the side next to Nemanja Matic.
Not one player in a Chelsea shirt got the better of their direct opponent and that's really disappointing. It's now two games and two disappointing performances and we need to shake ourselves out of it and quickly.
People will say that at least we can now concentrate on the Premier League and Champions League but if we are honest, we all would have preferred to be in the Cup draw this afternoon!
Congrats City. Well played. Shame I couldn't say the same for Jose Mourinho's men!
