Chelsea take on Didier Drogba's Galatasaray tomorrow night in Istanbul and it will be interesting to see the starting eleven picked by Mourinho. Who do YOU want to see start the game?
We've sat and watched both Arsenal and Man City come unstuck in their first legs last week and it's so, so important that Chelsea DO NOT do the same in the first leg.
I honestly believe that we can approach the first leg with confidence and I believe 100% that we can score at least one to take a lead back to Stamford Bridge.
It's the knockout stages, anything can happen but with Jose Mourinho at the helm, expect Chelsea to be prepared, disciplined and well up for this one.
We have to remember that Mohamed Salah AND Nemanja Matic are both cup-tied so they are unable to feature but a 21 man squad travelled to Turkey yesterday afternoon.
The full squad that travelled is as follows:
Petr Cech, Mark Schwarzer, Henrique Hilario, John Terry, Gary Cahill, David Luiz, Ashley Cole, Cesar Azpilicueta, Branislav Ivanovic, Tomas Kalas, Nathan Ake, Frank Lampard, John Mikel Obi, Ramires, Oscar, Eden Hazard, Andre Schurrle, Willian, Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto'o, Demba Ba.
Now, before you make your selections, there are some things to consider.
David Luiz missed Everton last weekend because of a muscle strain. Ramires was dropped to the bench because he also had a knock and Oscar was withdrawn at half time because of injury. Will they or should they be considered for a start?
If anything, with the absence of Matic, Ramires is key for us in the middle. Who should start next to him though? Should Jose deploy the defensive minded Mikel to ensure we keep things compact and try not to concede? Or, should Jose start with Frank Lampard for his experience?
I am of the opinion that we can cope without David Luiz starting. I suggest that Jose sticks with the same back five that started on Saturday - Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry and Azpilicueta. Any changes to that back five could unsettle us.
Then again talking of Luiz, should we consider playing him in the middle of midfield next to Ramires or Mikel? Mikel for his defensive instincts and Luiz for his use of the ball?
Two of the attacking three pick themselves and that's Eden Hazard and Willian. Both these two could be key for any chance we have to win over in Istanbul. Galatasaray are not strong down the flanks in defensive areas and I believe both can cause them all sorts of problems all game.
I just wonder how you people feel about Andre Schurrle starting with Eden Hazard on the opposite side thus, giving Willian the opportunity to play the number 10 role?
I am not 100% certain that Oscar should start if he has an injury and there is always an argument to start Eden Hazard in the number ten role but for me, Hazard does more damage down the wings and he MUST play there.
So what about up top? Should we stick with Samuel Eto'o or start with Fernando Torres? Eto'o has done well lately and Torres has just come back from injury. Eto'o starts for me.
As with any game Chelsea face, there is always plenty of debate amongst the Chelsea fans as we try and work out just how should pull on that blue shirt tomorrow evening.
To give Chelsea the best chance to get a good result on the night, I would like to see Jose Mourinho to start with the following eleven players:
Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry(c), Azpilicueta, Mikel, Ramires, Schurrle, Willian, Hazard and Eto'o.
I genuinely believe Chelsea can win the first leg and keep a clean sheet. What do you people think? Who do you think should start the game tomorrow?
