REPORTS: Nemanja Matic to re-sign for Chelsea this week. Thoughts?

One story that has gained momentum over the course of this weekend has been the link between Chelsea and Benfica's Serbian defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic. Now if you are not aware, Matic was involved in the deal that brought David Luiz to Stamford Bridge with Matic moving the other way.

Over the past few seasons, Matic has really flourished and has become a target for a host of big names throughout Europe. Now 26 years old, it's being reported in the Portuguese Newspapers that Jose Mourinho has identified Matic as a player he wants in the defensive midfield role at the club as he looks to rebuild a new dynasty at the club. Reports this morning state a fee of between £20-£25m has been offered but with a minimum release fee inserted into his contract of £37m, Benfica are holding out for more.

So what so you people think of the link to Matic and the fee that is being talked about? We are hearing that Chelsea will recoup around £17m for the sale of Kevin De Bruyne to Wolfsburg so we could be looking at paying an extra £10m on top of that money to sign Matic.

Let's also not forget that Matic isn't the only player being linked with a move to Chelsea. As reported on here a while ago, it's believed that Jose is also interested in Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin!

From what I can remember of Matic against Chelsea in recent seasons in the Champions League and Europa League, he has played well and has impressed. I personally believe that being the age he is now, it's the perfect time to re-sign him.
