The speculation surrounding Juan Mata's reaction to being substituted the other day has intensified ever since with the press linking all sorts of clubs with a move for him. One of those interested clubs is believed to Napoli and ex-Chelsea Manager ( I still hate saying that ) Rafa Benitez!
If you haven't seen Juan Mata's reaction then click here to have a look before you read the rest of this post. If you have, you can hardly blame the media for speculating the way they are at the moment!
In response to the latest developments, Jose Mourinho took his press conference this morning and was asked about the situation with Mata, two days on from incident at Southampton. He responded by saying that he has NOT been into see him and trained "In a fantastic way" this morning. Mourinho once again re-iterated that he wants Mata to stay and there had been "No offers" made for the Spanish play maker!
This whole situation has escalated because of Mata's reaction. In saying that it's a difficult situation also isn't it. We all saw his reaction and at that moment could understand him. He all felt for him knowing he has had a difficult season but we all then saw the impact Oscar made on the game, so you have to side with Mourinho to say he was right to influence the game from the bench as he did.
We all know the quality Mata has. We all know what he brings to a football team and we all know that if the unthinkable happens, he moves away, he will prove to be one of the world's best in his position.
In addition to Napoli, it's also being reported that the likes of PSG, Man United, Liverpool, Inter Milan and Juventus are also interested in him.
Chelsea fans continue to ask themselves why Juan Mata is not as involved as he should be this season but seeing the position we are in now and our recent results over the all important festive period, we are having to accept the situation.
Let's hope Juan Mata continues to do so and is still here on the 1st February!.
Carefree & KTBFFH!
