MATA: Will his World Cup dream force a move away from Chelsea?

As the transfer window rumbles on, the situation with Juan Mata continues to fill copy in our newspapers and websites nearly every day. Jose Mourinho speaking after victory at Hull has re-iterated his intention to keep our player of the year at the club.

However, the World Cup in Rio this summer is the focus of most players in these final five months of the season and I just wonder what is going through Juan Mata's head right now?

Surely the lure of being part of the Spanish squad is something he wants to achieve? Surely he will want to play a big part in the tournament compared to the small part (even though he came on and scored) he played in the Euro's two summers ago?

Jose spoke after Hull stating that he needs all of his players (apart from Kevin De Bruyne!) and each of them will play their part in the latter stages of the season. He re-iterated that he wants Mata to stay and gave the impression once again that the form of Oscar is the reason Mata has been demoted to the bench more often than not this season so far.

We are reading continued speculation about his future that intensified after his reaction to being substituted at Southampton here. Right up until the transfer window closes, expect Mata to be linked with a whole host of big name European clubs.

Now I for one still can't understand how he is being left out of the side for as long as he has been. I know that Oscar has been playing well and works hard without the ball which has put him in favour with Mourinho but, if you look at the Hull game the other day, apart from the one chance he had, he never really made much of an impact.

I thought at the time that it would have been the perfect opportunity to replace Oscar with Mata in the second half but again it never happened!. I just wonder how long this will carry on for?

You would have to imagine that Mata would need definite assurances from Mourinho to confirm where he stands for the remainder of the season. He would need to feel as though he will be given the game time he needs to impress and seal his place on the flight to Rio. If he cannot give him that then it could finally force his hand!

I really, really hope that this whole situation can sort itself out one way or the other. If Mata has to leave then it would ONLY be as a loan arrangement for the remainder of the season and not a permanent deal. Of course that's the worst case scenario I am referring to.

I am asking as many Chelsea fans for their opinion on the Mata situation now we are half way through the season so far and with the situation not looking like it will improve?
