The situation with Juan Mata will continue to rumble on throughout this month with the transfer window being open. We know he isn't happy at not playing but if reports are to be believed, Mata and his agent (his father) are due to meet the club to discuss his future this week.
We all hope that in that meeting, Mata receives assurances from the club and from Jose Mourinho that he IS part of his plans and is an important player to the team. Whether or not that will be good enough for the player is another thing as we have to consider the fact that he wants to play in the World Cup this summer in Rio with Spain.
The whole situation escalated after the Southampton game and his reaction to being substituted early in the second half. After the game, Mourinho played the incident down but it's seems that it could be the final straw for our player of the year!
Mata wrote his usual blog this week and made an interesting comment. He said:
"I wish you 12 healthy months with plenty of good moments for you. That is also my goal, as I wrote a week ago: to keep being happy and trying to make the people around me happy. At the end, that’s what life is about! I wish you the best and loads of smiles. May nobody take the smile off your faces, may nobody make your shine fadeI have to admit, we haven't seen Mata smile for a while now have we!
I love Juan Mata as many of you all do but we have to consider the worst now. No one player is bigger than the football club and that's important. However, I cannot help but think that if he goes, Chelsea would have missed out on potentially, one of the best players in the world!
I really, really hope this whole situation can be sorted out and he stays at Chelsea but right now, it doesn't look good!
Carefree & KTBFFH!
