Petr Cech is quoted in the local press this morning after Chelsea managed to take three important points against Crystal Palace on Saturday. Looking forward to an important week, Cech has re-iterated that although not playing well, we are still in a good position.
He said:
“It is great to be in the position we are. We have topped the group in the Champions League, (we are) two points off the Premier League leader and after Tuesday we can be in the semi-final of the domestic cup and we know that we haven’t reached our peak.
We still have room for improvement, but on all fronts we are in a very good position, so we can be pleased with that.
Hopefully over the next couple of weeks we will be in an even better position than we are now and look forward to that.
As long as the boss is happy with the progression of the team then it’s obvious everything is going in the direction he expected or wants.
We are in a good position. We know that we still have room for improvement and it is encouraging because if you really start hitting the peak then we will have even more chances to win games.”As I stated in my take on the win on Saturday, Cech is right. Although we aren't playing at anywhere near our full potential, we are still grinding out results (apart from Stoke obviously!) and are right up there in contention!
As for the future? I posted my view on how we can improve by making a switch to 4-4-2 and playing Juan Mata pushed right up top alongside Fernando Torres to play a free role around him! Check the post out here!
Now I know we have seen Man City and Liverpool notch up big, big wins this weekend and it's only natural to look at them and be jealous and then compare to how Chelsea are playing but it's important to remember that we have beaten Man City and have Liverpool coming up in the next few weeks. Those games were and will be very different to what we have seen this weekend!
The message I am trying to give is to remain positive Chelsea fans! We have an important game tomorrow night which is winnable and then we can focus on beating Arsenal.
Give it time and our performances will come!
Carefree & KTBFFH!
