GUARIN REPORTS: Why are we looking at signing another midfielder??

Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Inter Milan's Columbian midfielder Fredy Guarin in recent days and if reports are to be believed, a deal has been agreed for the January transfer window. I am asking why Chelsea need another midfielder!?

The Guarin to Chelsea rumour has intensified as the player removed the fact that he plays for Inter Milan from his Twitter profile. Although it looks like a deal is done, it's believed that Inter are holding out for Chelsea to agree to pay £15m before they would be willing to let him go.

So why on earth are Chelsea looking at investing in another midfielder and not a goal scoring striker? If these reports are true and the player signs, who is on their way out?

As we know Kevin De Bruyne is strongly linked with a move away from the club and his agent has come over to England to meet with Chelsea so that seems as though it's going to happen.

Juan Mata has been linked with a move away but in saying that, he has been given much more playing time and I can see him staying.

What about Michael Essien? Hardly featured much this season and remains a bit part player. If Fredy Guarin comes to Chelsea, you would have to imagine that for the remainder of the season, Jose Mourino would rotate the two deeper midfield positions between Mikel, Ramires, Lampard and Guarin.  Could this mean Essien would be out the door?

Come on Chelsea fans, I want to hear as many opinions on this. Do we need another midfielder?
