Chelsea's record against those teams considered as our title rivals this season has been good so far. We have picked up an important point at Old Trafford, The Emirates and White Hart Lane and two good home wins against Man City and Liverpool. The thing is, Chelsea haven't really clicked as a team as yet and that should serve as a warning to Arsenal, Man City and the rest of the Premier League!
All of us have lost games we never expected to and the title race is looking tight at the moment. Despite being thumped 6-3 by Man City, Arsenal have recovered and sit top of the league and Man City are going from strength to strength.
Chelsea are right there in the mix at the moment, just two points off of the top and now for the first time we see a four point gap between third and fourth!
Anyone who follows the Premier League worldwide will know that Chelsea have struggled to score goals BUT are still picking up vital points and wins! Just imagine where we could be if one of our strikers suddenly found their form and scored a bundle of goals. It's time to face it people, it's going to happen!
Gary Cahill has been speaking to the press after the victory on Sunday against Liverpool and has said:
"I was reading a lot of negative things about the team leading up to the Arsenal game but, if we had won then, we would have gone top. We should look at that as a positive. When we do click we can expect good things.
It's important we stayed in touching distance. [The Liverpool win] was a massive result because we saw the Arsenal result before and the results of the teams around us on Saturday.
The gaffer has touched on the fact that it is a bit of a transitional period but at the same time we have the quality to be competing in the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.
It's going to be entertaining and will go to the wire but as long as we stay in there we are in with a shout."I honestly believe that sooner rather than later, we are going to thump someone by five or six goals.
Cahill is right, the Liverpool game was out best performance of the season and if we now kick on from there, get ourselves a striker who can score plenty of goals (either from the ones we already have or someone new in January) and keep the pressure on City and Arsenal.
Southampton tomorrow is no easy game but if we can keep organised and disciplined at the back, we can hurt anyone with the attacking quality we have.
Cahill says to expect good things when we do eventually click! I am expecting us to blow teams away!
Watch out Premier League! It's going to happen!
