Jose Mourinho has spoken about the sides he believes are in the title race but has said that Liverpool lack squad to depth to be considered the same? What teams do you think are in the running?
Jose Mourinho is quoted as saying the following:
‘I think City has the most incredible squad, I think United is United, and history makes them contenders, too.
Tottenham is the big spender of the summer and, because of that, they have a fantastic squad with two teams of equal players.
At Arsenal, the manager is building a team step by step – the club is stable and buying a player like Mesut Ozil makes a difference.
Liverpool are probably the club with least resources because, while their team looks as strong as the others, their squad doesn’t look quite so strong.
At the same time, they don’t play in European competition, so they only play one match a week, so they are training, preparing and resting for the weekend match while the rest of us are playing in Europe.’ (Source)Now I just wonder who YOU the person reading this post (no matter what side you support) believe to be in with a realistic chance of fighting for the title this season?
I agree with Mourinho about City. Yes they have lost a couple of games this season but as we all saw last week, have the ability to really hurt teams and have the players to do so.
As with any season, you can never count out United although if they lose to Arsenal at the weekend that would be four defeats already and they would find themselves way off of the pace!
Arsenal have started fantastic but it's still early days and you would have to question their challenge if certain key players are injured. In saying that, who's to say that they will?
Tottenham have the squad and talented players and under AVB will up there challenging for at least the Champions League places. Again though, you have to question if key players get injured whether or not they have ideal replacements in those key areas.
As for Liverpool? Well to have a strike force of Suarez and Sturridge you always have a chance to win games. If they can keep them two fit and firing they will be much higher than they have been in recent seasons and challenging for Champions League.
Finally what about us? What about Chelsea? Well after two pretty useless seasons in the Premier League finishing way off the pace, why should we now consider ourselves as challengers?
Well in response to the question, we have had the players and the strength in our squad before but now we have the manager too!
Who do you think will come out on top out of all six teams that people consider as title contenders at this early stage of the season?
Carefree & KTBFFH!
