If you enjoy a punt on the Blues now and again – then now seems the ideal time to have a few quid on Chels to win the title after the recent wobble.
Contrarianly-minded punters will know that markets usually overreact to what is temporarily bad news or bad for as in our case. The loss against Newcastle and poor showing at home to West Brom should – over the full season – turn out to have provided the kind of short-term anomaly value punters love.
On the other hand, the fortunes of the Gunners have been, one might argue, anomalously good – so the converse is true. Of course, this may well be the heart talking more than the head – but even for the detached observer, Chelsea currently offer the best value of the clubs in with a realistic chance of being on top of the Premier League pile come the end of the season.
At the time of writing, the blue are a best-priced 7/2 to win the title. This puts them at third favourites behind Man City at around 11/4 and Arsenal at 10/3. The old foe Man United are after Chels on around 7/1 – having come in slightly after their victory over the Gunners at Old Trafford.
So you may argue that the red half of Manchester offers better value, still, than Chelsea. But we can all see a team finding its feet and lacking confidence under David Moyes – whereas with Chelsea, the glitch looks to have been a temporary two-match wobble only – and surely the Special One will be able to steady the ship and get back to winning ways?
All in all, then, that 7/2 could look very good value in a few weeks’ time, particularly as we have a fairly easy looking run-up, on paper anyway, to our match at The Emirates just before Christmas where we have such an excellent track record. If all goes according to plan, Chelsea will be favourites to win the Premier League by the time we enter 2014 and shrewd punters may even be able to lay a little of this value back and have a bet for nothing riding on the rest of the season.
Another way you may be able to achieve the same outcome is by registering with one of the online gaming companies around such as 32Red and others. If you’re new to the 32Red site, you should be able to pick up a free £32 for each £10 deposited and if you play your cards right, playing casino games, for example, or you perhaps play slots with 32Red, you may be able to come out ahead over the course of a few games and reinvest the proceeds on Chels?
Either way – it should be a lot of fun and a punt, with money you can easily afford to lose if it all goes against you, certainly adds a little spice to the festive season.
