There may not have been any Chelsea academy action last week but there was Chelsea players in action as always across many leagues out on loan so this weeks academy report is basically just a loan report.
Starting in the Premier League and Romelu Lukaku and Everton fell to their second 0 - 0 draw in 2 games this time away to Crystal Palace, it was another 90 minutes for Lukaku that will be very beneficial for him but it is goals that Lukaku will be looking for. For Victor Moses at Liverpool however it was another start from the bench which is starting to become a regular thing for Moses now but he did come off the bench for the last 15 minutes of Liverpools 4 - 0 win over Fulham.
In the Championship and young right back Todd Kane continues to be a permanent feature for Blackburn Rovers once again playing the full 90 minutes in Blackburn's 3 - 0 away defeat to Brighton. As i mentioned last week things do not seem to be going too well for Nathaniel Chalobah at Nottingham Forest, once against he was on the bench for their game away to Leicester and that is where he stayed for the duration of the game. Having been starting the last 3 games for Watford Josh McEachran started on the bench for Watfords 2 - 2 away draw with Middlesbrough, he did get on for the last 22 minutes of the game however is picking up some good minutes now at Watford.
Down into League one and Sam Walker was in FA Cup action for Colchester United but unfortunately saw them go out to Sheffield United with a 3 - 2 defeat, it was not a good game for Walker who was credited with an own goal for the second and conceded a late penalty to see Sheffield through to the next round at the expense of Colchester. Things were a lot more straight forward for George Saville and Brentford in the FA Cup as they came up against Staines and duly dumped them out with a 5 - 0 win, George played the full 90 minutes in this game for Brentford. Patrick Bamford and MK Dons also progressed to the next round of the FA Cup this week with a 4 - 1 home win over Halifax. Bamford played the full game but will be dissapointed he was unable to add to him goal tally for the season in this game. Finally the FA Cup afforded a rare start for Milan Lalkovic at Walsall as they progressed to the next round at the expense of Shrewsbury. Milan will have hoped he will have done enough to earn himself more starts now for the rest of the season.
Moving overseas and to Spain where Atletico Madrid and Thibaut Courtois played out a 1 - 1 away draw to Villareal impressively that was only the 11th goal that Courtois has conceeded in 18 games so far this season. Elsewhere and Marko Marin is still absent from the Sevilla squad and Oriol Romeu was again an unused sub for Valencia at home to Valladolid. In the Spanish second division Ulises Davilla made his third start of the season for Cordoba in their 0 - 0 away draw with Alcorcon and he managed to get 74 minutes on the pitch.
Our only Italian Loanee Wallace was once against an unused sub for Inter as they won 2 - 0 at home to Livorno. Wallace only has 2 substitute appearances and 30 minutes of game time to his game so far this season.
Finally it is the Dutch league we will focus on and Chelsea's second team Vitesse find themselves top of the Eredivisie going into the international break having beaten Utrecht 3 - 1 at home. Starting the game was Patrick Van Aanholt, Lucas Piazon and Christian Atsu. On the bench was Gael Kakuta who came on for Piazon for the last couple of minutes and Sam Hutchinson who did not make it on at all. Christian Cuevas stil is yet to make an appearance for the Dutch club. Christian Atsu was a Chelsea goalscorer in this game converting from the penalty spot 30 minutes into the game. Finally this week there was a first start in the league for Stipe Perica at NAC Breda as they ran out 2 - 1 victors against PSV Eindhoven, Perica managed to get 75 minutes but was unable to score.
Next week there will be coverage of the U18's game against Arsenal and of course the usual loan report that will be slightly reduced due to the internationals.
