"We must play to our strengths!"

Jose Mourinho has re-iterated this week that his players must NOT try to be clever in games and concentrate on the quality we have OURSELVES rather than try and be like someone else.

He said:

"I think that if you try to play like other people do, and you have no players for that, you are very stupid.

If you try to play like someone else does, you never reach their level. You have to try and be the best to the style of your players. That is very simple.

When I say to Ivanovic: 'Don't make an early cross because Drogba is not there,' I know what I'm saying. He'd be crossing for what? Why would you want to play like another team? Don't try to be clever because you will become stupid."

He has a point doesn't he but in saying that, when have we really seen Chelsea play to their strengths this season so far? This is an argument that we simply have not reproduced anything like that first half an hour of football we showed against Hull City in the first Premier League game of the season have we?

The problem I see here comes with squad rotation and also because of the opposition. The results are now far more important than the performance and any side in the league would bite your hand off for three points because quite literally as we have seen, anything goes in the Premier League!

We all know our strengths are moving the ball quickly to our front three. For those players to move in between the lines to open up defences and we have plenty of players available to do that. It's just finding the right balance at the moment and getting each piece of Jose's jigsaw together.

One thing is for sure, when it clicks like it did in that first thirty minutes against Hull, Chelsea's football can be exciting, fantastic and everything we all want it to be!

As Jose says, we just have to concentrate on ourselves and playing our OWN game!
