According to this report today, a number of Premier League clubs sent their scouts to watch Watford play last weekend and Josh McEachran in particular. With his loan period only lasting until January, it will be interesting to see what happens when it finishes!
It's believed that a Hull City and Swansea scouts were there watching McEachran with others also believed to be there as his future remains unclear at Chelsea.
McEachran has a contract with Chelsea until 2016 and over the last three seasons he has been loaned out to Swansea, Middlesborough and now Watford.
It's always going to be difficult for someone like McEachran to make an impression in our first team with the likes of Ramires, Van Ginkel, Essien, Lampard and Mikel ahead of him. In his defence, he has never really been given a chance since the days of Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea.
Under Ancelotti, McEachran made nine starts and thirteen substitute appearances in the 2010 season including starting two champions league games. Ancelotti deployed McEachran in the deeper midfield role and he flourished particularly away to Marseille.
You have to wonder what would have happened with him if we had kept him involved as much as he was then. What we have seen is his involvement stop and if anything he has had little or no chance which is why he has moved out on loan.
We all know the quality he has. We have seen he can cut it amongst the big boys and can hold his own in our squad, we just need to wait and see what happens in January now.
I really hope Jose Mourinho has faith and belief in McEachran and he stays with Watford for the season and comes back next summer to work properly with the first team.
If there are other clubs in the Premier League interested in McEachran, surely Chelsea can see the potential he has and will give him a chance next season?
Let's hope that is the case and he isn't another one of those youngsters to have to move elsewhere to be given the chance they clearly deserve!
What do you think of McEachran and the report of Premier League clubs scouting him?
