One report that has been doing the rounds lately that caught my eye initially has been of a "reported" 250m Euro bid by two clubs, backed by Adidas for Lionel Messi this summer.
Now, after a period of time and ahead of "El Classico" tonight, Spanish TV show "Punta Pelota" have openly discussed the reports of these bids being made and Spanish Reporter Francois Gallardo has confirmed the reports. Although Chelsea are not named by Gallardo, he confirms Bayern Munich were one of those clubs!
Reports in Spain have confirmed that Adidas who's stable of footballers worldwide include Lionel Messi, wanted to take the player away from Barcelona who's kit suppliers are rivals "Nike" and would be willing to back a move to one of their biggest clubs they supply Adidas kit's for. As we know, Bayern Munich is one of them, the other is being reported as Chelsea!.
Messi has a reported 250m Euros release clause in his contract and Adidas were more than happy to give their financial backing to make the deal possible. It's also confirmed that bids WERE made to release him from his contract but the player turned the deal down as he is happy at Barcelona.
Now if you ask me, I would never ever think that Lionel Messi would want to join Chelsea first and foremost. If he had the chance to rejoin Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich, you would think he would chose that option rather than Chelsea.
Of course we can all sit here and scoff at these reports and think "rubbish!" but I guess we can only dream!
