Games against Arsenal no matter the competition are always fiercely fought and tonight will be no different. Both teams are expected to make changes from the weekend for what both would class as the least important of trophies this season but in saying that, it's still a game we both want to win!
Both of us are riding high in the Premier League and playing well. Two points clear of Chelsea, Arsenal will be looking at the run of games coming up and that will more than likely feature in Wenger's thinking ahead of his team selection.
As for Jose Mourinho and as I posted yesterday, he could make ELEVEN changes for the game from the side that beat Man City just two days ago. The likes of Luiz, Mata, De Bruyne and Willian are all expected to start.
It's interesting looking around the net, most of the Gooners feel that we have the better depth to our current squad and are looking at Chelsea as favourites. One site in particular is hoping they can nick a 1-0 win!
Here's a question for you - Are they right?
So what of our squad depth? Of course on paper it looks stronger and if anything I agree with them, Chelsea should have more than enough to cause Arsenal plenty of problems and have too much in attack.
Here is my predicted line up for Chelsea tonight:
The one major area of doubt for me is who starts next to David Luiz? I have gone with Tomas Kalas as he could do with a game to show us all what he is made of. But, I am not so sure Jose will throw him in at the Emirates and Gary Cahill could start.
As for up top, it seems more than likely Demba Ba will start as he doesn't feature in our Premier League or Champions League games.
Looking through that eleven above I like the idea of Mikel and Essien working next to each other and just in front of our back four. They provide plenty of protection there and Essien's power in midfield tonight could prove to be vital.
Once again Juan Mata will be given his chance to impress after missing out at the weekend and with speculation rife of his future, I just hope he plays a blinder! (Look how things have changed since he scored the winner at the Emirates last season!)
Kevin De Bruyne and Willian look like being given starts either side of Mata and for De Bruyne in particular, it's the first time we would have seen him in a Chelsea shirt after being openly criticised by the manager. It will be interesting to see how he performs.
Overall, if the team Jose goes with is as above, we have a nice balance to the side. Surely we should have more than enough to win this one after reading some team predictions from Arsenal fans for their own side.
Every single Chelsea fan around the world should be confident tonight. We have strength in depth within our squad and a manager who gives us that little something "Special" in games such as these!
Chelsea to win this one by at least two goals!
Come on Chelsea!
Carefree & KTBFFH!
