As Chelsea fans over the past month or so, we have been reading about the trials and tribulations of Juan Mata not being selected and basically told to buck his ideas up, and now Kevin De Bruyne being told the same. Andre Schurrle however continues to do everything right and is being overlooked!
Being honest, I knew little of Schurrle before he signed for Chelsea and had to rely on video clips and scouting reports around the Internet to get some sort of an idea as to his ability and qualities.
If anything, and after we all witnessed what happened with Marko Marin during his first season at Chelsea, we could only hope that Schurrle would come here and make much more of an impression.
Schurrle has done that and much, much more in these first few months at the club and is going from strength to strength at Chelsea. He continues to work hard, to listen to his manager and to fall in line with playing the Mourinho way and is reaping the benefit.
It's obvious that Jose Mourinho trusts Schurrle and as a result we have seen Andre feature heavily so far this season. Think back to Old Trafford, Mourinho opted to not start with Fernando Torres or Romelu Lukaku but to leave them on the bench in favour of playing Schurrle!
Of late he has really come into his own. His performance against Steaua Bucharest was outstanding and during this international break, he has scored FOUR goals in two games for Germany with the latest being a hat trick last night that you can watch here!
For all the debate and media attention over the situation with Mata and now De Bruyne, is it fair to say that Andre Schurrle has been overlooked by everyone as part of the reason and has now become one of the first names on the team sheet?
