Romelu Lukaku was last night loaned out by Chelsea for the season to Everton and it has taken Chelsea fans around the world by surprise. We expected deals to be done for Victor Moses and for Demba Ba. No one considered Lukaku and for me, it's a real disappointment.
After a good pre season, I expected Lukaku to play a big part in Jose Mourinho's plans this term but as these four games have passed and Lukaku remained a bit part player, it became obvious that he wasn't.
The reason I am disappointed about Lukaku leaving is because he offers Chelsea an alternative up front and I have been saying that on here for some time now.
Think about it, Torres and Eto'o up top are pretty much similar strikers for Mourinho. Both like to play pushed up on the shoulder of the last defender looking for that through ball, looking to get in behind.
At times during the course of the season, Chelsea will come up against sides that will literally park the bus, defend with everyone behind the ball. When this happens we need an option to change the focus of our attack and Lukaku would have offered us that option.
Strong, powerful and with pace to burn, it seemed as though Lukaku would make a real impact at Chelsea in the Premier League this season but it's not to be. Instead, he will play his football at Goodison and beyond for Everton and will set himself up for the World Cup with Belgium in Rio.

Everton have pulled off a sensational deal in taking Lukaku for the season in my eyes. Looking from the outside in, they have lacked a big man up top for years and now they finally have one and what a talent! Lukaku could prove to be the difference that pushes them higher up the league and challenging for European places.
So Chelsea and Everton fans, what do you think of Romelu Lukaku's move to Everton? Do you agree with it or disagree Chelsea fans? Everton fans, what do you think of him and do you think he can have the same level of success as he did at West Brom last season? (Post your comments below even if you are not registered with Disqus)
It's such a shame he isn't with us for another season but Romelu, I wish you all the best!
