Chelsea Linked with Move for Porto Frontman

Today, some sources are reporting Chelsea are considering launching a big for Porto frontman and Colombian international, Jackson Martinez. I’ve said for a long time now Jackson has been severely underrated as he’s been in the shadow of the other Colombian striking superstar, Radamel Falcao. However, as I closely follow both the Colombian national team AND Porto, I’ve always thought Jackson has the minerals to be a superstar at a top-tier European club.  Last season he banged in 34 goals in 43 games. Unless your name is Leo Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, that’s a goal tally to be proud of. He’s a proper out-and-out striker; one who can slot in and be very successful in front of a technical, talented, and creative midfield, as evidenced by his time at Porto last season when his supporting cast was Joao Moutinho, James Rodriguez, and Silvestre Varela. No disrespect towards Moutinho and Varela, but I think Hazard, Oscar and Mata are a class above. In my opinion, James is on par with these guys and we will see a lot more from him in the coming months, but that’s beside the point.  

Jackson would be a massive signing for us. He can finish clinically with either foot, is deadly in the air, is pacey enough to burn a defender, and has a silky first touch. At 26 years old, he’s got plenty left to give, has proven himself at both the club and national level (directly competing with Falcao, the best out-and-out striker in the world, for a starting spot), and has a knack for scoring stunning goals of the type that’d make RvP blush with envy.
