If Chelsea are prepared to pay his wages, then it is a transfer that can happen.

As you can expect with Pre Season starting today, Rumours are a plenty in the press and the media. One particular rumour has caught my eye concerning yet ANOTHER central midfielder - Daniele De Rossi.

Now if reports are to be believed, Jose Mourinho has tried and failed twice to sign De Rossi in the past and for the Roma midfielder, it's not the first time he has been linked with a move to England.

Man City tried and failed last season to sign him and it looks like Jose Mourinho has re-ignited his interest once again this time around.

A Source close to Roma is quoted here as saying:

"If Mourinho calls, I’m sure De Rossi will say yes. 

He did not want to go to Manchester City, but Chelsea are the club who could take him to England.

The stumbling block? His reported wages per season of £5.5m AFTER Tax!!!

The question is, with Michael Essien back, Oriol Romeu fit again, Frank Lampard here for at least another season, Mikel still on the books, Ramires being one of our most consistent performers and the new signing Van Ginkel joining us, do we need another midfielder?

I personally like De Rossi. I like his work rate in midfield and the fact that he can fill in as a holding midfielder and as an attacking midfielder. Where would he fit in?
