Chelsea linked to move for Benteke. Yes or No?

According to all sorts of newspaper reports, Chelsea are being strongly linked with a move for want away Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke after the player handed in a transfer request late yesterday. With reports of Villa demanding £25m for his services, I am asking Chelsea fans if Benteke is the solution we are looking for up front?

If we look at the situation up front at the club as it stands, we have Fernando Torres, Romelu Lukaku and Demba Ba on our books and I call to question the need for Benteke. Surely if anything, he is of a similar type to Demba Ba??

Without question, Christian Benteke made an impact with Aston Villa last season in the Premier League. Once again though, you have to question whether or not he would do the same at Chelsea?

Considering the fact that he is only 22, has a bright future ahead of him and at Chelsea would be part of a squad that includes three or four (depending on what happens to Kevin De Bruyne and Thorgen Hazard this season) of his Belgian team mates, you would think that everything would be in place here to take the step further.

With reports that he is only earning £20,000 per week at Villa compared to most Premier League wages, you would imagine negotiating personal terms here would be a doddle. As for the asking price of £25m? I would much rather play an extra £9m and get hold of Luis Suarez from Liverpool.

What do you people think about Benteke? Is he in your own personal view, a realistic target for Chelsea this summer?
