One problem it seems that we have ALWAYS had is comments and quotes made by our overseas players when they are away from Chelsea whether it's on International duty or back to their homeland for holidays etc. These quotes made are either miss-interpreted or used to create unnecessary gossip regarding their future at the club. David Luiz has made certain quotes of the past few days in Brazil it's lead to all sorts of speculation about his future once again.
The fact that he has recently signed a new extended contract at Chelsea, spoke of the fact that he wants to be here to win the Premier League now that he has won the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup already and has more or less committed his future to us while being here on a day to day basis, it just seems to me to be totally ridiculous and he should state the same in Brazil!
Once again there is rumour and speculation that Barcelona are looking to take him to the Nou Camp this summer and have been putting together a deal worth around £30m to tempt Chelsea to cash in. As we all know, this has happened before as he seems to be linked with the Spanish giants almost every season.
In light of this recent speculation, Luiz was asked about his future. We are used to seeing the bubbly and jokey Luiz being happy to talk the media and the press, it's something that he likes to do. In this instance however, he was not so forthcoming. He said of his future:
“I really don’t want to talk about my future. At the moment I am only thinking about the national team.”The when asked about working with Jose Mourinho he said:
"I don't want to answer that question!"Why not? It's very strange from Luiz. Of course it could literally mean nothing and he just wanted to focus on Brasil and is under instruction from Chelsea to not speak of Mourinho until the deal is complete. In saying that, we had read and seen players make comments on his return so why not Luiz?
It has to be frustrating for Chelsea themselves also. They are well aware of the current rumour and speculation regarding Barcelona and to read or hear Luiz give responses like that, it only adds fuel to the fire!
As for his future? I want him here and I am sure Jose Mourinho does too. Whether or not it's as a defender or a central midfielder is to be seen.
I really hope he doesn't leave!
