The second blog post in the One To Watch series focuses on Central Midfielder George Saville. George is a 20 year old central midfielder who joined Chelsea's academy in 2004 from Reading. George is the younger brother of former Chelsea academy player Jack Saville.
Having made 40 appearances in Chelsea's Reserve/U21's side George is one of the older players in the academy and will be looking to establish himself in a first team in the football league. George had a fairly unsuccessful loan last season at Millwall and will in the coming seaon hope to have much more game time.
That loan move has already been awarded to him, he has agreed to join League 1 club Brentford until the beginning of January. It is an important loan as he will playing at the top end of League 1 and with some very good performances he could secure himself a good loan in the Championship for remainder of the season.
George is a fairly all round midfielder capable of playing either the holding role, the number 8 or even the number 10 behind the forwards. He is capable of tough tackling and silky ball skills. His best position in my opinion is in the holding role where his tenacious style means he can break up the play and get things moving again very quickly. He can also if needed slot in at Center Back.
George is certainly not a player who will shy out of anything and always gives is all, getting stuck in is not all that he is about however and he also has the ability to launch a pretty lethal shot from range. Hopefully George will impress this season and really kick on in his development and start to make a name for himself. Here is a video highlighting something of what George is about:
