As was to be expected, the big news of the day is "The Happy One"'s first official press conference as our manager. As always with him, we got a handful of classic 'Mourinhoisms' to chuckle at (the "Happy One" comment, and the implication that he pretty much despises the Spanish Media, were absolute gems, for starters), but on the whole, I felt it was an unusually subdued presser from him.

That's not to say he didn't have some positive things to say. I'm going to break down a few of the more important things he said:

"The first thing isn't to go to the board and say 'I need some money with a lot of zeroes,' it's the other way."
For me, this is huge. We all know what kind of reputation Roman, and Mourinho himself, has when it comes to opening the checkbook, as opposed to promoting talent from within. This is incredibly important to me - I think we've got a fantastic squad base with whom to move forward with. I don't think we need any big signings. Another striker would be great, but with the way Lukaku has developed, I don't think we need to be splashing out £60 million on a new forward, whom I don't personally rate that highly. (Looking at you, Cavani). I am glad to see Mou's intent is to build from within, just making bit-part changes and purchases where and when necessary.

"Now it's up to me to show I deserve to be here for a long time. I have a contract for four years. I hope to go to the last day of that contract. If the club then wants me to stay, I'll be more than happy"
This is incredibly exciting stuff to hear. Finally! Managerial stability! Well, at least there's the hope. We've thought that before, too, but I genuinely believe Mourinho will be given the time and resources he needs to build a dynasty. I truly believe, now that he's won everything else he's wanted to, that he's ready to settle down and build a dynasty like Sir Alex did. Let's just hope he can deliver!

"Chelsea did very well to get these young boys with great potential, great ability and a great future, and I look forward to trying to improve them."
"Both of them [Kevin de Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku] are ready to come and be ready for my squad"
This is also some exciting news - more indication that he's ready to promote the younger talents at the club. Furthermore, the first quote assuages some of my fears regarding the transfer rumours of late - Mata to Madrid, Luiz to Barcelona, etc. It seems like Mourinho is saying he's not planning on making huge changes to the squad (especially our core), and that's a monstrous relief for me. Seeing either of those two head for the exit would have given me a heart attack.

"I am where I want to be. I wouldn't change it for anything."
We all knew it, but damn, it's nice to hear it again. Great to have someone who loves being here as much as Mourinho clearly does. He's obviously going to give his all to anything he does, but it's always extra reassuring when the man in charge has such an obvious love for the club.

So, ChelseaDaft-ers, what were your favorite quotes from the press conference today? Which ones gave you the most hope? Which (if any) caused you to worry? I'm eager to discuss such big news with the CD community, so let me know what your thoughts are in a comment below! Also, be sure to follow me on Twitter @blakehewitt!
