When people ask me about Florent Malouda and his time at Chelsea, I always feel a sense of frustration because at times he was different class but we just never saw it enough did we!

Banished from the first team squad and left to train with the Academy in the final year of his contract last season, Malouda has had to sit and wait and bide his time to leave the club.

It all fell apart last summer when once again he had spoken of his intention to leave. Di Matteo asked him for a meeting to find out his intentions and he obviously made it clear he wanted to leave so was told to train with the Academy until a deal could be done. As we know, nothing happened.

Now, Malouda could have made quotes to the media during last season, moaned to the press and made life difficult for Chelsea but he never did. He accepted the decision, trained every day and kept himself in shape. You have to give him credit at least for putting up with the situation.

Instead, he leaves Chelsea and the Chelsea fans with a message:
It’s been a real pleasure and an honour to wear the blue shirt for 5 years.
Coming from Lyon after four successful years with as many champion titles, it was a real challenge to sign for CHELSEA F.C. with the ambition to succeed in the best league in the world: the English Premier League.
One of the main reason why I decided to sign for this club was to win the European CHAMPIONS LEAGUE and I couldn’t imagine a better scenario than winning the best club trophy in the world for my last CHELSEA game.
Over the five years I’ve defended the club’s colours, I’ve really enjoyed the great moments I lived amongst players and technical staff with the aim to deserve the daily support from our loyal fans, and I always tried to make them proud.
Every good thing must come to an end, and even if I had to wait for a whole season at the club’s academy, I’m very proud of all my achievements as a Chelsea player.
I’m free now to carry on my career, so I wish all the best to all my blue friends; I’ll always support CHELSEA F.C…(source)
You have to admire him. Like I said, for me he was a frustrating player because he would be fantastic in one game and then simply average in another.

No one will ever forget his contribution to our double winning season under Carlo Ancelotti!

Good Luck Florent. We wish you well for the future.

Carefree & KTBFFH!
