It's a question that has many possible answers, especially this season. Now before anyone replies to state that we have played three games in the space of a week this week, I would ask you to think about it as if anything, we have been like that all season!.
I know we have been playing every three to four days for most of the season but these are professional athletes we are talking about here. These are people that train for TWO HOURS a day and go home or wherever to rest. Why can't they play twice a week? Why have we struggled?
Obviously the change of management hasn't helped but is that really a valid reason? What about rotation of players? Has this lead to players becoming unsure of their positions at the club and within the squad and we have now lost balance?
Yesterdays game against Sunderland was the perfect example of what I am saying here. The starting eleven was strong with some players coming back into the starting eleven who hadn't started in midweek against Rubin but it wasn't the best performance was it? If anything it took Chelsea going a goal down to give us a kick up the arse in the second half and to start playing.
This season has been such a frustrating season for all of us. We know how well we can play and we know that if we move the ball quickly we can hurt teams. There have been numerous occasions where we just haven't done it or started this way at all ?
I give you the perfect example of what I am saying here - Manchester United in the FA Cup at Old Trafford this season! A woeful first half performance and although we go in at half time 2-0 down, being honest, it could and should have been alot worse!
Somehow, from somewhere we pull it together and are to TOTAL OPPOSITE and take the game to United for 45 minutes, score two good goals, create numerous chances and if anything should have won the game!. We dominated United like no one has against them this season in that second half, we forced them backwards and they literally couldn't live with us!.
Why did it take 45 minutes in that game and again yesterday for Chelsea to get going?
It's something that has baffled me all season!
What do you think is the reason(s) for Chelsea being so inconsistent this season?
