Demba Ba is heavily featured in an interview with the London Evening Standard and has championed the idea of Rafa Benitez starting him alongside Fernando Torres against Liverpool.

He said:
“When he came on the pitch against City he helped me a lot. We caused them problems so I think we could play together.
We combined against Brentford earlier in the competition, too, so I don’t believe it would be a problem for us. Most of the time we have to fight against the two central defenders on our own. If you have an extra body there, it makes it easier.
That’s exactly what happened on Sunday. It’s good, but when we play with just one we have an extra midfield player so we can control the game more.
This is also very important in football, to be able to control the game. I would understand if Fernando wants to start against Liverpool. We’re not making the decision but I would understand if he does.”

I can see the obvious benefits of playing the two together and then can also see the reason as to why they don't play next to each other.

Obviously starting them both together up front would pose a different problem to teams we come up against. In my eyes Torres and Ba are different players and could link up well together.

The problem with starting the two together is the balance of the side could suffer.  Where would you play Juan Mata? Wide left or in behind? If he plays in the middle, who misses out as you could only play one other in the middle next to him with a choice of Mikel, Lampard and Ramires.

I think if we are chasing a game then its a good option to play the two but for now we stick with what we have been doing or even switch to 4-3-3!

What do you people think? Should we give them a go starting games? Could they play well together?
