As the season draws to a close the loose ends are gradually being tied up. Manchester United were crowned champions for a record 20th time on Monday night and it looks increasingly likely that QPR, Reading and Wigan are the three sides likely to drop down into the Championship. However, there are a few loose ends that still need to be tied up and Frank Lampard’s future is certainly one such loose end.

Ever since January it has become clear that Frank’s future at Stamford Bridge is uncertain and even now it is not clear where Frank will be at the start of next season. Frank Lampard is quite simply a Chelsea legend, and his achievements in the blue football kit of Chelsea should never be undervalued; and to put it bluntly, should be printed indelibly on the mind of every Chelsea fan worldwide, as well as football fans in general.

Wherever Frank ends up, we really feel that he should be applauded for his wonderful dedication to the Chelsea cause, and with this in mind we thought we would just talk about his record.

Appearances and Achievements
Since his move westwards across London in 2001, Frank has been an ever-present figure in the blue of Chelsea, clocking up 599 starts to date. He has seen the Blues through their meteoric rise to Premier League champions; and has fought tooth and nail to win the Champions League as well as the FA Cup, League Cup and the Community Shield.

Whether he moves on or not, Frank will be able to hold his head high, having been a key figure in the best Chelsea side in history and the 8 major trophies won by Frank at Chelsea will stand as a testimony to his greatness

Goals
Despite not being a striker, one of the main things that Frank has always offered to every side he has played for is a goal threat. Frank has been prolific, and is the only player in history to have scored at least 10 goals in 10 consecutive Premier League seasons.

Last month Frank broke another barrier, having scored 200 goals in a Chelsea shirt. However, Frank clearly has no intention of resting on his laurels – 3 more goals would see Lampard being crowned the club’s top scorer in history – no mean feat when you consider that this man primarily plays in central midfield.

Will he stay?
As yet it is unclear as to exactly what will happen with Frank. Many think that he may well go and it has been suggested that he is heading over to the USA or China. There is however still a school of thought that Frank may sign a contract extension with Chelsea and if the rumours regarding the return of Mourinho are to be believed then this would add significant weight to that suggestion. Whatever happens, Frank Lampard can hold his head high – he has achieved an awful lot for Chelsea and should be applauded for his contribution to the growth of one of the best clubs in the world.
