The question that is on every Chelsea fans lips after our fantastic second half performance against Manchester United is:
Is that the turning point in our season?
We shall see in the next two games against Steaua and West Ham at home this week!

The reason I ask is because of this article in The Telegraph written by Alan Hansen. It's a good read but I want to focus on an important part of what he is saying.

He says:
Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Oscar tore United apart in the second half and the big problem Chelsea’s next manager will have is finding the formula to accommodate them better next season.
Whoever replaces Benítez has got a massive job this summer bringing in the players to help bring the best out of the three of them – because if he can do that, the sky is the limit and they will be back challenging on all levels.
The one-touch play and the way the three of them interacted was incredible. I saw them against West Bromwich Albion last weekend and they were terrific there but they ripped Manchester United to pieces here.
Let us remember, this was against a United team who are 12 points clear in the Premier League and running away with the title. They were inspired and Chelsea could have come away from Old Trafford having won 4-2.
What I also liked about the way they played against United was their determination to win back possession. That is something they have not always been renowned for but it was there in abundance and a good sign for next season. If this performance does not give Chelsea inspiration for the rest of this campaign, then there is something wrong.
I personally think Hansen is spot on and have written an earlier post stating that we should make the switch to 4-3-3 to provide us with a better balance here.

I really can't help but think looking at the players all together after the game that it IS a massive turning point.

What do you think?

  1. I really do hope we can use it to motivate us into finishing the season on a high, the second half performance showed we can still mix it with the best of them! Everybody needs to pull together now and help see the team over the line, the manager, players and fans!

  2. Yes, that can be our turning point in the season Man Utd took our confidence away and we can also reagain it back with them.
