Rafa Benitez was brought into Chelsea, taking over from Roberto Di Matteo with a clear objective as Interim Manager. His objective was to finish inside the top four and to win the trophies left available to the club after missing out on the Community Shield, and UEFA Super Cup with a slim chance of qualification for the Champions League.
We still had the Club World Cup, League Cup, FA Cup and Premier League to fight for with the Europa League being an addition depending on how our last group game panned out.
We were knocked out of the Champions League meaning we were demoted to the Europa League, knocked out of the League Cup after two disappointing performances and lost the Club World Cup. In addition, our Premier League form took a turn for the worse and we found ourselves slipping away from challenging for the title and have changed our focus to ensure a top four finish as the minimum expected.
After sitting and watching the likes of Celtic and Manchester United take part in big European nights over the last two days, Chelsea face a humbling trip to Prague and Thursday night football is something we used to mock teams for not take part in ourselves.
All eyes will be on Chelsea tonight to see how serious we take the competition and again on Sunday as we host our FA Cup replay against Brentford. With Man City up next in the Premier League at Eastlands in ten days time, it will be interesting to see where we stand in each competition. This is a testing time for Chelsea football club and doubts have and are being cast over the players and the manager.
Can Chelsea turn a nightmare season into a successful one by reaching their objective in the Premier League and add either the Europa League or FA Cup to the trophy cabinet?
The frustrating thing is that we HAVE the players to do well. We have the squad despite what Rafa thinks, with everyone fit to challenge and have challenged for every single competition we entered instead of giving a powder puff representation of ourselves so far this season.
Of course the Europa League is a lottery and it is dependant on the "luck" of who you are drawn against as to how far you can possibly reach in the competition. We shouldn't fear anyone as like I said, we can beat anyone on our day. The problem is, we haven't had many of "our days" this season so far.
We are all looking for a chance to play Atletico Madrid to put right the wrongs of Monaco. For it to be in the final would be ideal but we need to take each game, one step at a time.
As for Brentford in the FA Cup, I'm sorry to be harsh but they should be blown out of the water by half time allowing us to concentrate on the return leg against Sparta this time next week and the next round of the Cup at Middlesborough away.
The Premier League is where I believe we need to maintain our focus and especially with the month ahead. A trip to City who are nowhere near the same team as they were last season doesn't look to be as daunting right now and with a fully fit squad to choose from, Chelsea could and should cause them plenty of problems.
In addition to City, our next eight games are: WBA (H), Fulham (A), West Ham (H), Southampton (A), Sunderland (H), Tottenham (H), Liverpool (A) and Swansea (H) taking us right through till May and all those games are winnable as far as a Premier League Bet on Chelsea is concerned.
Key games to look out for are Man City (A), Tottenham (H) and Liverpool (A) but it's all important to get all the games won if we are to maintain or improve our current league position.
Without question, the next ten weeks for Chelsea Football Club are massive and you can place your Chelsea bet for each game on Bet Victor. After what's happened to us this season, I would imagine the odds against us would be of real value.
We have it in ourselves to do well in all three competitions. We need to do well in all these competitions but based on our performances this season, do you think we can pull it together and achieve our objectives?
