It seems that Rafa Benitez has finally admitted that no matter what happens, he will still have people that support our club that do not like him or ever wanted him here as manager. The problem is, once again he has missed the point as far as I am concerned.
In speaking ahead of the trip to Prague to play Sparta in the Europa League this Thursday and after the victory over Wigan he said:
'I cannot change the perception people have of me because I was successful at Liverpool against Chelsea.
I thought when I came that if I carried on winning games here, it would get easier. But if you cannot win all the time, I understand that - sometimes the fans get a little bit frustrated. And I am frustrated, too. But at any club, whatever its circumstances, there are always going to be people who do not agree with you.
In football in England, you have 60 million managers. In Spain, there are 40 million managers. Everyone has an opinion.'(Source)
The problem Benitez has is that at times he is oblivious to what is happening around him why he is standing there on the touchline and that's why alot of Chelsea fans aren't happy with him in charge.
OK, I admit that when he first took over it was the Liverpool thing that was the issue. For some people it still is and they are free to have their opinion and I respect that. I was one of those people after he had said what he said in the past below:
For the others that accepted that despite our protests it wasn't going to change Roman Abramovich's mind, they accepted the fact that he was here and were prepared to give him a chance. After all, he kept talking about what was in the past IS the past and he just wanted to come here and to win football matches didn't he!
Those people that have supported him have changed their opinion because of the managers performance in games and because of the ridiculous substitutions he has made in games that has cost us.
OK, defensive errors do not help but when you are chasing a game or trying to see out the final five minutes against Reading, with John Terry warming up the whole second half, he takes of Fernando Torres and replaces him with Demba Ba. What happens? Ba has two touches and Reading score twice!.
We should never have lost to QPR and Swansea. Drawn with Brentford and Southampton but under Rafa we did. Rafa Benitez needs to open his eyes to the fact that a manager is judged on results. This is a results game and Chelsea's for the most part under Rafa has not been good enough.
That's why Chelsea fans have turned on him and stand next to the others in the stadium who never wanted him here from the start.
