AZPILICUETA: Hail Cesar as we finally find Ferreira's replacement!

When Cesar Azpilicueta signed for Chelsea, I will be honest, I didn't know alot about him. "Dave" as he is now affectionately known as on the terraces and in the changing room has really impressed me and it looks like Chelsea have finally solved the problem we have had at right back since Paulo Ferreira was dropped by Mourinho around 2006.

I know that Branislav Ivanovic had made the position his own with impressive performances but it's important to remember that Ivanovic sees himself as a centre back rather than right back.

So what of Azpilicueta? I had been saying recently that we need to pick our strongest back four and that DID NOT include Azpilicueta but after yet another fantastic performance against Wigan, he simply cannot be dropped.

He has endless energy and gets up and down that right hand side all game. He has impressed me with his defensive ability. He isn't afraid to get stuck in and never gives up if someone knocks the ball past him.

In going forward we have seen how he likes to get his cross in early, he isn't afraid to shoot on sight either and in recent weeks has played his part with some key assists with the goals we have scored.

"Dave" has been outstanding and deserved his Man of the Match award last Saturday. Like I said, it finally looks like Chelsea have found someone who provides a natural balance down the right hand side since Paulo Ferreira!.
