Tonight is massive for two reasons. Firstly, we need a win after two dreadful performances against Swansea and Brentford to give everyone a lift. Secondly, with Man City dropping two points at QPR last night, it's an opportunity for Chelsea to close to gap to just four points.
With Petr Cech, David Luiz out of this game with injury, I am wondering what YOU the Chelsea fan reading this thinks is the best starting eleven to take on Reading tonight?
For me it's important that we sort out our back four as a priority. We have been leaking goals and we need to get back some defensive stability. It's my view that our strongest back four is Ivanovic at right back, Cahill and Terry in the middle and Ashley Cole at left back.
We know that Ramires and Frank Lampard will continue in the deeper midfield positions because there is no one else available to play there that can do a job defensively in addition to going forward.
Now, with Eden Hazard suspended and with the options we have left, Marko Marin deserves another start after a disappointing performance from him at the weekend. Juan Mata and Oscar will continue even though Oscar isn't a wide player but Benitez has been talking about Yossi Benayoun playing in wide areas as an option.
Up front is anyones guess really. You would expect Demba Ba (who featured for around ten minutes on Sunday) to start but Torres could get the nod again after scoring again at Brentford.
So for me, the starting eleven tonight should be:
Turnbull, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry(c), Cole, Ramires, Lampard, Oscar, Mata, Marin and Torres.
What do you people think?

There is little or no option to what is available at the club right now. In my opinion, i think Apilicueta can be used as a wide option on the right midfield since he has got good crosses and cutbacks.
ReplyDeleteTurnbull
Ivanovic Cahill Terry Cole
Ramires Lampard
Azpilicueta Mata Marin
Torres
ivanovic, cahill, terry, cole
ReplyDeletemarin, ramirez, oscar, mata
ba
torres
i think this would be a gud time to test the ba torres partnership, and besides i would also like to see oscar in midfeild he is much more comfortable in that position
