Well things couldn't get any worse at the moment with players missing in a key area of the framework of the team. Both Mikel and Oriol Romeu are unavailable due to Mikel being at the African Cup of Nations and Romeu injured for what looks like being the remainder of the season.
News is circulating in the media (and due to be confirmed by Rafa in his Press Conference today) that David Luiz is out for up to THREE WEEKS due to a calf injury he picked up late on against Swansea on Wednesday night.
It's a blow for Benitez because we have seen he likes the versatility of Luiz and to be fair, Luiz has stepped forward into midfield as if he has been playing there throughout his career. With Luiz in midfield he gives us another dimension with his passing range and ability in addition to reading the game and his natural defensive instincts.
No disrespect to the opposition but I guess if anything now is the time for someone like Luiz to be injured as we have Brentford, Reading and Newcastle away followed by Wigan at home on the 9th.
In saying that, it means that we will have to continue with Frank Lampard and Ramires as our midfield combination and I don't have a problem with that for those games.
Looking at David Luiz the defender, we have John Terry coming back into the fold now and obviously under consideration to start having remained as an unused substitute in the last couple of games so we have cover.
Let's hope the injury isn't as bad as it could be and he's out for ONLY these four games!

I believe we'll have problem playing against newcastle since their center midfield is good. All their french midfiielders are good players espacially ben arfa. Ramires cant tackle. Most of them will turn to a foul
