If newspaper reports are to be believed this morning, Chelsea appear to have had a change of heart over the future of Frank Lampard and it now appears that they have made the first move to start communication over a new contract at the club.
The details of the contract are yet to emerge but I am wondering how YOU the Chelsea fans will react to the news this morning?
However, it's also being reported here that Everton had offered Lampard a three year deal and that has been rejected!
For me, he deserves another contract and could do a great job playing deeper in midfield, picking his passes in the Alonso role. Obviously, this wouldn't be every week, but he is still more than capable of performing in that role for the football club.
Yesterday, Lampard scored his 193rd goal for Chelsea and in doing so, equalled Kerry Dixon's record at the club and is now only nine goals behind Bobby Tambling as joint second in our all time scorers list.
It's only when Lampard retires that everyone will realise just how incredible he is and that it will take someone special to eclipse his goalscoring record from midfield.
Surely Lampard has to carry on and become the clubs all time top scorer and if it doesn't happen this season, next season. The message is clear from the majority of Chelsea fans:
Roman sign him up!Thinking about a possible new contract for Lampard, I just wonder if it would benefit both parties if Lampard was also offered a role on the clubs coaching staff in addition to the playing side of things?
Experience in the game is invaluable and if it's something that interests him, working with youth development at the club and inspiring people to train as he has with the attitude towards the game Lampard has shown throughout his career would be a fantastic move by the club.
The problem with all this is the fact that Frank Lampard still loves his football and wants to play as much as possible.
What do you think? Should the club offer Frank a new deal that includes a role as a coach at the club? Should we keep him long enough to get the record and become our all time top goalscorer?
I would love to hear your opinions on this from as many Chelsea fans as possible!

I really hope that's true! Lamps is a pro who trains harder than anybody else and keeps himself in great shape he can still offer us something and will allways score goals and nobody can thread a pass like him
ReplyDelete#super Frank !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Roman has two options....its sign up a new contract for frankie or loose alot of fans and respect...his choice
ReplyDeleteChelsea don't value what they have.check out manchester united, they are still keeping Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes so that the young ones coming to the club can learn from them.I advice Chelsea fc to keep Frank Lampard ..for future purpose...
ReplyDeleteI wish lampard is offered a new deal he deserve more than that, he should work with the club after is football career........

ReplyDeletei dont think any true chelsea fan would let lampard and terry go to any other club. id want them to retire at stamford bridge in late 30s.
ReplyDeletei hope abramovich sees the sense and signs him up
I want Lampard to stay, but that's based on sentiment! The club however cannot be run based on that.(1)What good is it for the club if Lampard becomes chelsea's highest goal scorer? Its a personal achievement. (2)why should the club "beg" him to gain invaluable experience of coaching at such a high level? When the coaches at the youth level doing a fantastic job! Its of more use to him than it is for the club. Ferreira wants it, & willingly sacrificed playing time elsewhere. (3)you once complained about the the performance of Hazard (16 assist & 6 goals)in relation to his high wages, yet Lampard should be given 140,000/wk for a bit-part role! (4)Giggs & Scholes accepts 1 year extension, but Lamps at 35(when his contract expires) does not accept!
ReplyDeleteI think Lampard wants to eat his cake & still have it, by Playing on our sentiments! If he truly wants to become chelsea's all-time scorer, end his carrier & also start coaching here, he should accept a wage cut & 1 year rolling contract! EASY
Hey. You're so on point, there's not much more to add. Everybody seems to be on the bandwagon for sentimental reasons ONLY. Bar injury, Juan Mata may hit 30 goals this season and that should satisfy our goal scoring demand for Lamps. Besides Lampard played the other day when we couldn't beat QPR, same as Corithians at the World club cuo, soo what exactly is the big Deal???
DeleteIf he loves the club that much, he should accept a One year contract. Simple! You don't eat yr cake and still have it. Worse still, he tends to cause disaffection within the team when he's not playing, so what exactly is the comparison between him and Giigs/Scholes, besides age?
I say let him leave! Kevin De Bryune would make a far better deep lying midfielder from the double pivot or we could go for some fresh legs th that has 4-5 years at the top to offer Chelsea.
I get what you're saying but frank lampard says he hasn't even been offered a contract yet.

ReplyDeleteWe have got players like beniyoun on our books reportedly on £92,000 a week, Malouda who will never play for the first team again! Ferreira who should have left years ago etc etc......... These are the players that should be making way for new talent! Not a legend like lampard who has won us more points, games and trophies than any other player ( with exception drogba & Terry) so what if it's sentiment that makes the fans want to keep Frank! He deserves our sentiment we wouldn't have had the success without him!
ReplyDeleteWho doesnt want to see lampard play for chelsea forever? I mean lampard is a living legend. He might not be as good as he used to be but he still adds flavour to the team. I think he used retire at chelsea and perhaps join the coaching team. Nuff said.
ReplyDeletethe message is already clear...Roman wants Lamps to go...soon it will be JT's turn..i cant imagine when last a Legend retired @ chelsea...Roman is no recogniser of Legends...we surely will miss Super Frankie
