As we all know, Chelsea opened negotiations with Demba Ba of Newcastle after Chelsea had agreed to activate the £7m release clause in his contract during this transfer window.
Newcastle can do nothing to stop the move as they had agreed to insert the clause in the contract they offered him when they signed him so it all looked like it would be done and dusted and Ba would become a Chelsea player within days.
However, it seems as though the transfer has stalled . If you read this report here, we are led to believe that Chelsea are not willing to throw money away anymore by paying players "silly money" on contracts and Ba's "advisers" are shocked at the situation because let's face it, they thought they could all line their pockets!
Now that could be because of the financial fair play ruling AND because of our elimination from the Champions League but it seems that for the moment, Chelsea will not be held to ransom by these so called advisers and fair play to them.
Even Alan Pardew has spoken out over these people and said:
I do feel for Pardew and the Newcastle supporters about all this because it's obvious that he is one of their best players and they have build their pre season and season around him being there.
Then again, you have to question as to why they agreed to insert the release clause in his contract in the first place?
For me, jury is out on Demba Ba being a Chelsea player. Don't get me wrong, I think the deal will eventually be sorted out and he will move to Stamford Bridge before the close of the window but, I can't help but think that there are better options that the club should be looking at rather than move for him.
What will be, will be so let's just wait and see.

When he’s played he’s always represented his full commitment to the team and I do think he’s slightly becoming a victim of a few sharks around him. It's all part and parcel of football these days though isn't it. There are so many representatives involved in transfer negotiations now that these things take time, especially if they are putting deluded ideas into players heads.
In some respect I feel a little bit sorry for Demba because I think people are representing him who are not actually representing him. There are people out there who are fuelling this who are not actually involved.
